There are several examination boards that are able to set and award A Levels to pupils across the UK as well as internationally.
All exam boards follow strict guidelines from Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) to regulate standards and ensure parity. Layout, content and format of exams however vary from one examination board to another.
Given the choice of which exam board they will use for each subject, schools and colleges must look carefully at each specification to decide which awarding body they will choose. Decisions can be based upon specific individual’s interests, skills & knowledge, or on the type of questions in the exams or indeed by the specific content covered by the course.
