Even worse, he gets killed in the chase. Through a weird clause in his will, they end up beneficiaries of a tavern he owns, which would be great, but it looks like the place is haunted and some of his former henchmen turn up looking for an alleged stash on the premises. 'In The Navy' (1941) is the tale of Russ Raymond (Dick Powell) a famous singer who joins the navy under an assumed identity to serve his country.

Unbeknownst to him, Dorothy Roberts (Claire Dodd) a reporter has tumbled his plot and is on board the boat he's assigned trying to snap pictures of him in uniform.

He befriends Smoky and Pomeroy (Abbott and Costello), two fellow jack tars who help him avoid the reporter.

However, the reporter is falling in love with Russ. The film also stars famous singing group of the day, The Andrews Sisters.
