Martin, who is 15 years old, is devastated when his grandfather suddenly dies.

The two had been very close, and Martin would often visit after school, play chess and talk easily with his grandfather, whereas his relationship with his own parents was always much more strained.

His behaviour and work at school start to go downhill, and he falls out with his mates, even gets in trouble with the police.

During this time, he meets a girl called Angela at school who lost her aunt and so is able to relate to Martin's feelings.

The friendship blossoms, and Martin's relationship with his own father also becomes closer, as Martin realises that his father is suffering the loss of his parent.

Will all of this help Martin finally move on from his bereavement?
