Aventuras Vascas and Espana Campo Y Ciudad

This DVD consists of two series, "Aventuras Vascas" and "Espana - Campo y Ciudad". "Aventuras Vascas" tracks the progress, problems and adventures of two British students, Sophie and Richard, during a fortnight spent with host families in and around Bilbao. "Espana - Campo y Ciudad" programmes, originally made by Channel 4 for the geography curriculum, have been re-edited to provide interesting, up-to-date material for language students.

The curriculum connections include: listening; writing; and, speaking.It stimulates discussion and written work.

It provides interesting and varied listening material.

It gives insights into contemporary Spain. It provides target language subtitles to facilitate comprehension. "Aventuras Vascas" includes 5 programmes which offer learning scenarios that are relevant and meaningful in overcoming difficulties in communicating, collecting material for project work, getting on with the locals and getting to grips with common problems in Spanish grammar and pronunciation. "Espana - Campo y Ciudad" includes: Bilbao - El Renacimiento de una Ciudad which focuses on the Guggenheim Museum of Modern Art, the cleaning up of the river Nervion and the state-of-the-art public transport system; Almeria - El Campo en Crisis which focuses on the human misery behind the production of fruit and vegetables in Almeria where immigrants from Morocco as young as 12 are risking their lives every day to work in what they see as a promised land.
