One in 68 : What One Psychologist Learned About Raising a Son on the Autism Spectrum

According to the CDC, one out of 68 children in the U.S. have an autism spectrum disorder, a rate that has doubled over the decade. "I never imagined that after twenty five years of volunteering with children with autism, earning a Masters degree in educational psychology and then a doctorate in clinical psychology that I would be a career school psychologist who would call the police on her own teenage son, follow an ambulance carrying him to a psychiatric hospital, plan to send him away, and cry so hard all the muscles in my face ached."
