Child in the House/The Scamp/Front Line Kids

Triple bill of British dramas. In 'Child in the House' (1956) eleven-year-old Elizabeth Lorimer (Mandy Miller) is left with her childless aunt and uncle while her mother is in hospital.

When her fugitive father reappears Elizabeth promises to keep his whereabouts a secret.

But will she be willing to hide the truth from her relatives as well as the law?

In 'The Scamp' (1957) schoolteacher Stephen Leigh (Richard Attenborough) meets Tod (Colin Petersen), a young boy accused of shoplifting, finds out about his unsettled life, and is eager to enrol him at his school.

When Tod's father Mike (Terence Morgan) announces that he's found work in America, Stephen offers to look after Tod in his absence.

As Stephen and his wife Barbara (Dorothy Alison) are unable to have children, they initially view Tod's arrival as a blessing.

But, as the young rascal struggles to adapt to English middle-class life, the couple begin to question their decision.

Stephen and Tod, however, share a love of music which strengthens the bond between them.

Things are looking up for the Leigh family until Tod's father comes back from America with his new bride Julie (Jill Adams) and demands the return of his son.

In 'Front Line Kids' (1942) two neglected boys, who have started working in a hotel run by a thief, round-up their gang of friends to help bring their new manager to justice.
