Three years after the end of the second series, DI Alec Hardy (Tennant) and DS Ellie Miller (Colman) begin investigating a sexual assault in the coastal Dorset town of Broadchurch, but it soon becomes clear it's going to be a difficult case to solve, with a suspected serial attacker on the loose.
