This report synthesizes the findings from the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) global and sub-global assessments of the likely consequences of ecosystem change for human health and well-being, and the scientific basis for actions needed to enhance the conservation and sustainable use of those systems.

The assessment exercise involved more than 1,300 experts worldwide and the findings provide the strongest evidence so far of the impact of our actions on the natural world.

It looks at the serious implications of the loss of vital ecosystems and ecosystem services for public health issues, including increased exposure to pollution, depletion of freshwater resources, impacts of global change, and patterns of disease distribution and transmission.
