Edward Fox and Michael Lonsdale star in this political thriller directed by Fred Zinnemann.

In 1962, the militant OAS seek to assassinate President Charles de Gaulle (Adrien Cayla-Legrand).

After their first attempt fails, they decide to hire a British assassin known by the codename Jackal (Fox) and he begins to meticulously plan the job.

Meanwhile, French police learn of the threat and Deputy Commissioner Claude Lebel (Lonsdale) is tasked with finding the Jackal before he can strike.

The cast also includes Derek Jacobi, Tony Britton and Cyril Cusack.
