The Resource is fully photocopiable by the purchasing institution.

It includes an Answers Section, Notes on Ovid's narrative and descriptive techniques, the role of the gods, and shape-change.

Content questions, True/False tasks and some pair work aim to encourage greater pupil involvement.

The Resource seeks to reinforce understanding of the role of the gods, of the way in which these are presented by the poet and of the part they play in the lives and destinies of the characters.

The Points to Ponder sections occasionally interrupt questions on the narrative to allow candidates to think about the poet's narrative/descriptive technique, or to comment on the characters and on the action as it unfolds.

In the accompanying Answers Section, except where their purpose is to promote accuracy, answers take the form of open-ended questions, offering various points of view intended to encourage critical thinking and debate.

Shape-change in Metamorphoses, for example, is explored from different aspects, the intention being to help candidates form their own opinions. The importance of candidates' supporting their written answers with detailed textual reference, and of keeping in mind the cultural and social context, is emphasized throughout.
