Throughout his life, William Butler Yeats produced important works in every literary genre, works of astonishing range, energy and skill. "The Yeats Reader" selects from across the range of Yeats's writing.

It presents over a hundred of Yeats's best known poems, plus eight plays, a sampling of his prose tales and excerpts from his published autobiographical and critical writings.

Also collected are selections from the memoirs left unpublished at his death and complete introductions written for the projected Palgrave edition of his collected works.

These are supplemented by a detailed notes section and a chronology of his life.
