Presents a series of basic facts and figures on the global agricultural situation, as well as a review of the econimic environment surrounding world agriculture.

In addition, this edition discusses four selected topics: urban agriculture; information technology and agriculture; the threat of desertification; and agricultural support services.

Part Three examines some of the macroeconomic aspects of the problems of achieving food security.

A set of time series data is also presented on diskette, including agricultural, fisheries and forestry data for about 150 countries, country groups and regions.
