Southend is known for having the longest pleasure pier in the world, but it isn't the pursuit of leisure that brings crime boss Jimmy the Gent (Peter Wight) to town.

Jimmy has come to visit Shrewd Eddie (Paul Freeman), the ruthless gangster who has come to dominate the dark side of Southend in recent years, to collect the quarter of a million he is owed.

As word spreads rapidly around the local crime community about this clash of the titans, all manner of chancers and psychopaths spot an opportunity to find favour with either Jimmy or Eddie and attempt to get in on the action.
