1950's British romantic drama. The film follows Joanna (Betta St. John) as she returns to her home on an island off the coast of Nova Scotia and reminisces about her teenage years.

While suitors Alec (William Sylvester), Nils (Michael Craig) and Simon (Patrick McGoohan) compete for her affection, the community falls on hard times leading many to the mainland in search of happiness.
