In Afghanistan, the ancient horseback game of Buzkashi, a tough sport with a strict code of honour, is a way of life for its players.

Uraz (Sharif) seeks to emerge from the shadow of his father, Tursen (Palance), the greatest horseman in Afghanistan, and forge his own identity.
