Domain decomposition provides computationally efficient parallel and distributed solution of large scale problems.

These methods mainly consist of splitting the global domain into several sub-domains and to compute the solution on the global domain through the resolution of the problem associated with each sub-domain.

The aspect ratio of the sub-domains and the shape of the interface between the sub-domains have a significant influence on the convergence of domain decomposition methods.
