Art of the American Indian Frontier

Providing a survey of Native American art from 1780 to 1920, this portfolio consists of 24 unbound colour illustrations and an explanatory booklet giving an introduction to the subject and information on the individual pieces.

Indians from the woodlands and plains created beautiful and art objects for use in a variety of ceremonies and celebrations.

They include colourful clothing, bags of porcupine quill and buckskin, woven sashes, jewellery and smoking pipes, and they bear witness to the creative spirit that endured even the face of continual government attempts at forced assimilation.
