The South Downs Way : Eastbourne to Winchester (Rev. ed)

Exploring the Sussex Downs and East Hampshire Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the official "South Downs Way" leads the walker the 100 miles (160km) between Eastbourne and Winchester.

The route follows the northern escarpment for much of the way and rarely descends to habitation except where river valleys interrupt the regular course of the Downs.

The route links many ancient and historical tracks, passing many sites of particular interest to those with a thirst for the past, but the main joy is the appreciation and recognition of this surprisingly secretive land that will please and delight any walker.

It contains details of the walk split into 12 daily stages.

It includes days that delve into a rural heartland, others that follow streams and rivers and those that follow the glistening sea on one side, flanked by sheep-grazed downland on the other.

It is illustrated with OS mapping and the author's own full-colour photographs.
