Soldier Blue

Candice Bergen and Peter Strauss star in this revisionist Western directed by Ralph Nelson which is based on the events of the 1864 Sand Creek Massacre.

Naive army officer Honus Grant (Strauss) and resourceful Cresta Lee (Bergen) are the only two survivors of an attack by the Cheyenne and must attempt to reach safety together.

When Cresta realises that her fiancé's cavalry unit intends to attack the peaceful inhabitants of a Cheyenne village in response, she attempts to warn the Cheyenne chief but is branded a traitor and is forced to bear witness to a brutal and bloody massacre.

The cast also includes Donald Pleasence, John Anderson and Jorge Rivero.
