This collection of the work of one of the greatest modern poets, the master of lyrical meditation, was first published in 1955, when Stevens was seventy-five.

He selected the poems himself from volumes covering more than four decades: "Harmonium", "Ideas of Order", "The Man With the Blue Guitar", "Parts of a World", "Transport to Summer" and "The Auroras of Autumn".
