There is a significant body of published material to be found in various sources but little accessible material which presents an overview of the engineering behaviour of soft rock and which sets out practical geotechnical design procedures.

This book serves as a `handbook' for the practising civil engineer or engineering geologist and focuses on conventional geotechnical problems such as foundation design (spread footings and piles), retaining structures, and natural and engineered slopes; and will also suit MSc level students.
