The Swordsman

Jae-Hoon Choi writes and directs this South Korean action drama.

Prominent swordsman and bodyguard Tae-Yul (Hyuk Jang) retires to a remote part of the country when new rulers overthrow the current Emperor.

However, the idyllic life he leads with his daughter, Tae-Ok (Hyeon Soo Kim), is thrown into disarray when a routine visit to town results in them being accosted by Gurutai (Joe Taslim), a nefarious slave owner.

When Tae-Ok is kidnapped Tae-Yul takes up his sword again and sets about securing her rescue.

But with his failing eyesight and his opponents armed with the latest gun powder developments he will require all his cunning and guile to save his daughter.
