This is the story of an Underwater Tour of the World and is a classic science fiction novel by French writer Jules Verne.

It tells the story of Captain Nemo and his submarine Nautilus, as seen from the perspective of Professor Pierre Aronnax after he, his servant Conseil, and Canadian whaler Ned Land are brought aboard the submarine, called the Nautilus, where they meet the mysterious Captain Nemo.

Their status on the ship seems ambiguous. Are they guests, as Nemo insists, or prisoners, as Ned Land begins to suspect?

Nemo introduces them to the wonders of the underwater world.

He shows them the lost continent of Atlantis and the wrecks he has plundered of gold as well as many other wonders.
