Dealing with polymer processing in terms of unit operations for both thermoplastic and reactive systems, this book adopts the approach which has been traditionally applied in chemical engineering.

The overiding aim of this text is to illustrate how and why processing affects polymer structure development within a range of processes, and to examine the subsequent physical properties of the product - the processing-structure-property relationship. The introduction of technology polymer processes, the geometry involved in flow and heat transfer, and the geometry of typical products occurs in Chapter 2.

The approach the text takes is developmental, the aim being to take the undergraduate reader from introduction processing technologies, through an understanding of the basic science behind processing, and arriving at an appreciation of the processing-structure-property relationship.

Postgraduates should also benefit from this approach, particularly those with a background in either pure science or engineering.
