A children's story set in post-war years, on a council estate in a northern industrial town that could almost be Bolton, and based on true events, with a mix of comedy and pathos.

Names and places have been changed, to protect the guilty!

The main character describes his recollections, and his exploits with a gang of young friends, from the age of six, up to the approach of their 11+ exams.
