Floating on the emerald seas is a small rocky island belonging to the mighty sea-god Poseidon.

Gradually he transforms the island into a rich and fertile place with underground canals, a race course, a silver-pinnacled temple and a palace fit for a god.

But as the golden years pass, his descendants start to act less like gods and more like men...This retelling, based on Plato's Timaeus and Critias, with a note on Atlantis by Geoffrey Ashe, echoes one of the most haunting themes of humankind.
