Safe loading and unloading of bulk carriers 2003 : implementing EC Directive 2001/96/EC (establishing harmonised requirements and procedures for the safe loading and unloading of bulk carriers)

This publication contains guidance on the requirements of EC Directive 2001/96/EC which established harmonised requirements and procedures for the safe loading and unloading of bulk carriers.

This Directive came into force in February 2002 and the provisions will be implemented by the Merchant Shipping (Safe Loading and Unloading of Bulk Carriers) Regulations 2003 applicable from March 2004.

The guidance is intended for use by ship-owners, masters, crews, terminal operators and industry in general in order to understand and comply with the new requirements.
