Victory in the April 19 semi-final could see them take their place in the FA Cup final - a far cry from the dark days at the start of the campaign.

Back in August, there was little cause for optimism as an agonising late home defeat to Blackburn Rovers indicated a long, hard season ahead for David Moyes' threadbare squad.

Fast forward to the beginning of October and with only two league wins recorded, another defeat to Rovers, in the League Cup, was swiftly followed by UEFA Cup woe at Standard Liege.
