These guidelines provide technical information on protection against radiation in specific installations and for specific equipment, in order to assist the competent authority, employers, workers and their organizations, as well as all those concerned with the protection of workers against ionising radiations.

The guidelines may be used in conjunction with the code of practice "Radiation Protection of Workers (Ionising Radiations)", published by the ILO in 1987.

They describe the requirements for the control of exposure to radiation of workers engaged in radiation work with external sources and unsealed sources.
