This book introduces you to functions to build a foundation for learning about specific types of functions in later Summit Math books. Using a wide variety of scenarios that involve functions, this book shows you how to identify increasing, decreasing and constant intervals as well as the domain and range of a function. Without using the phrase "piecewise functions," this book develops an introductory understanding of what they are by guiding you through the process of graphing only part of a function and thinking about how to restrict the domain.
