Early childhood development has been recognized worldwide as an important element in any long-term sustainable development plan.

However, little information currently exists to help practitioners design, implement, and evaluate early childhood development projects.

Early Childhood Counts: Programming Resources for Early Childhood Care and Development CD-ROM fills this gap by providing an extensive database of up-to-date resources for trainers, practitioners, and policymakers involved in early childhood development.

These learning materials may be used to support classroom instruction, awareness raising, self-study, research, advocacy, and library reference. The CD-ROM contains a comprehensive Programming Guide (electronic version) which serves as a centerpiece and is supplemented by six other categories of supporting materials.

These materials include: site visits (approximately 130 case profiles), a library of about 300 related published materials, worksheets to help users apply concepts, and Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) briefs providing detailed discussion on a range of topics, as well as a number of video segments and visual presentations with pictures and text.

Early Childhood Counts CD-ROM is an excellent resource kit and is particularly useful to trainers, project managers, and program planners in the field of ECCD and those responsible for the creation of ECCD programs in developing countries.

The secondary audiences are university faculties and libraries, and students of education, health, nutrition, and cognitive psychology in both developing and industrial countries.
