Lecture notes on psychiatry (8th ed)

This book provides an introduction to psychiatry for medical students beginning their psychiatric attachment.

Its organisation reflects the knowledge, needs and wishes of its readership and is written by two experienced clinical teachers whose interests in the two major schools of thought (biological and psychodynamic) complement each other.

Section One is entitled Symptoms and Syndromes and outlines the approach to the patient, how to conduct a psychiatric interview and how to make a diagnosis.

Section Two covers aetiology and treatment. The final section discusses how patients present differently in different situations and also discusses special clinical problems.
