When Polly (Suzy Kendall) becomes weary of her privileged life in Chelsea, she decides to move to a working class community in Battersea.

She soon gets a job at a candy factory where she makes some new friends and begins a relationship with working class boy, Peter (Dennis Waterman), who dreams of leaving Battersea and becoming rich.
