Salaam Bombay!

Mira Nair directs this social realist drama set in the streets of Bombay in the 1980s.

When eleven-year-old boy Krishna (Shafiq Syed) burns his brother's bike following a spate of bullying incidents he is kicked out of his home and told to return only when he has earned the money to replace the bike.

Making his way to Bombay, Krishna relies on a disparate group of prostitutes and drug addicts to get by.

However, his desire to save money becomes increasingly difficult and his hopes of returning home continue to dwindle.
