Fanny: The Other Mendelssohn

Documentary directed by Sheila Hayman in which she tells the story of her great-great-great-grandmother, Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel.

A brilliant composer, Fanny spent her life in the shadow of her younger brother Felix and many of her compositions were attributed to him.

Despite being forced to compose privately, she created 450 works before her death from a stroke aged just 41.

Her 'Easter Sonata', rediscovered in the 1970s and initially attributed to Felix, is brought to life in the film by pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason.
