The Trip Collection

Triple bill of comedy dramas directed by Michael Winterbottom following road trips taken by Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.

In 'The Trip' (2010) the pair tour the North of England, sampling the best restaurants of Lancashire, Yorkshire and the Lake District.

As the line between fiction and reality blur, with the two comedians playing dark, desperate embellishments of themselves, they gorge on elaborate dishes in the North's fanciest restaurants, contemplate on topics such as masculinity, identity, love, relationships, ageing, fame and success, and argue over who can do the best impersonation of Michael Caine.

In 'The Trip to Italy' (2014) the entertainers travel to Italy to retrace the steps of the legendary Romantic poets Byron and Shelley, enjoying Italian cuisine and visiting famous sites along the way.

The poets, who left England following persistent outrage and threats relating to their social and political views, found refuge in Pisa, where they often dined, hunted and discussed poetry together.

In 'The Trip to Spain' (2017) Steve is asked to review some Spanish restaurants so the pair set off to sample the country's hospitality and converse on matters of interest once again as they travel from coast to coast.

Having both recently turned 50, the pair contemplate their respective mid-life crises while touring the country in search of adventure, discussing Cervantes and doing some of their signature impressions.
