The Endless Summer

Iconic documentary in which film-maker Bruce Brown follows two surfers around the world as they search for the perfect wave.

American surfers Robert August and Michael Hynson dedicate the summer of 1964 to thrill-seeking on the waves, a quest that takes them to sun-soaked beaches in Australia, West Africa and the island of Tahiti.

The pair meet a number of interesting local characters along the way and even brave shark-infested waters in their bid to reach surfing nirvana.

Forgoing complex filming equipment and techniques, Brown captures the thrills of the surfers' journey and the unfiltered bliss of finding the sort of surfing experiences that merit their travels around the world.
