Widow Miranda Wells (Holmes) is struggling to raise her three kids, despite the help of her boyfriend Tucker (Jerry O'Connell).

As a storm approaches their home in Louisiana, Miranda inadvertently crashes into mysterious stranger Bray Johnson (Lucas), who offers to help her repair the damage to her car.
