The Library Association Year Book

With over 26,000 members, 17,000 of whom are Chartered Librarians, The Library Association represents the largest professional body of librarians and information professionals in the UK.

This annual publication, in 1998 published to celebrate the centenary of its Royal Charter, reflects the diverse scope of members' interests, and functions as a sourcebook.The text is split into three overall sections.

Part one gives practical information about the regional branches and special interest groups of The Association: current committee members, and a list of publications together with ordering information.

It also covers: details of standing committees of Council; Officers, departments and staff; subscriptions; and winners of Library Association medals, grants and awards, past and present, and entry details.Part two deals with The Royal Charter, Code of Professional Conduct, Bye-laws, regulations for elections and for associateship, rules of procedure, and other matters of policy and practice.

Part three is a complete listing of Library Association members, personal and institutional, in the UK and overseas, plus details of members' qualifications and current employment.
