The Gulf War (1990–91) was an armed conflict between Iraq and a 42-country coalition led by the United States.

It featured now-infamous missions such as Operation Desert Sheild and Operation Desert Storm and marked the introduction of live news broadcasts from the front lines of battle, primarily by the network CNN.

It also gained notoriety for including three of the largest tank battles in American military history.
