Prompted by emerging recommendations on receptor nomenclature and drug classification, this volume offers alternative data by which receptors might be classified, and includes structural and transductional information on receptors and the way they are activated.

It comprises 17 papers presented at a conference entitled "Receptor Classification: The Integration of Operational, Structural, and Transductional Information" held on September 21-22 1995 in Verona, Italy.

The essays discuss how the available information obtained by three different approaches might be integrated into one classification system.
