A classic of German literature that spawned a hundred censored, watered-down progeny, Till Eulenspiegel is a cheerfully scatological collection of 95 loosely related fable-like vignettes depicting the life and times of the famous roving jester.

The trickster hero devotes his life to deflating the pompus, the rich, the smug, the petty and anyone else who obstructs his merry path.

The book includes the entire set of 87 sixteenth-century woodcuts, which some scholars have attributed to Albrecht D urer.

It also contains an introduction that establishes the historical context of the tales, discusses the use of satire in the late Medieval and early Renaissance literature, and considers the controversial question of the tales' authorship.
