The children's books in this centre key into this literacy centre, which is chosen to resource one particular genre.

It comprises six copies of a core text to be used by the whole class, six copies of a guided text aimed at the average reader, six copies for more able readers, six copies for less able readers and a teacher's book. Included are six copies of "The Ghost Drum", "Whose Side are You on?","Voices in the Park" and a "A Thief in the Village".

These are all suitable for Year 5 Term 3 range requirements of the National Literacy Strategy Framework for teaching.

The teacher's book matches these objectives from the framework: explores and compares texts from different cultures, considers patterns of relationships, social customs, attitudes and beliefs, identifies points of view and changes of points of view.
