Memories of the Blue Door

In 1984 Cowgate estate, which is situated within Newcastle Upon Tyne's notorious west-end, lay lost and all but forgotten.

It was known simply as a place to be avoided at all costs!

Not only was the area in dereliction and despair, but an era was also disappearing.

With no work and little hope, it seemed nothing out there could brighten up those tired old dirty streets.

Fortunately, out there waited a group of eleven year olds and would-be lifelong friends who between them, had other ideas.
