The House on the Hill

Well, Gem was right, that strange noise wasn't a pig in a sack! - a group of children joins forces with a slightly eccentric older woman to solve a shocking crime in their out-of-the-way village in southern Spain.

At a lonely hilltop farm, bought and renovated by a wealthy photographer, the children and La Senora gradually uncover evidence of exotic animal trafficking. The house provides the perfect hiding place for the smuggled creatures, but the main perpetrator is the sinister driver of a mysterious grey car. From her past connections with the legal system in Barcelona, La Senora recognises this man as someone both unscrupulous and potentially dangerous. Events come to a head when the children make a daring visit to the House on the Hill, and Eva sees her beloved puppy being viciously kicked. Amid the chaos and confusion that follow, the animals and birds are rescued and the photographer arrested. The story ends with a zoom call tea, a lopsided red velvet cake and a new bike for Santi. But where is the grey car driver?
