Analyses of Hazardous Substances in Air

The determination of hazardous compounds in the air of work areas is an often used procedure for estimating individual exposure to a hazardous substance.

This volume comprises 16 analytical methods for determining organic compounds and heavy metals by high pressure liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, infrared spectroscopy and atomic absorption spectrometry.

The analytical reliability and reproducibility of these methods have been tested and confirmed; the methods are appropriate for monitoring the adherence to relevant limit values; moreover, they are described in such detail that the technical assistant can use them without having to refer to additional sources; three fundamental chapters on active and diffuse sampling, on quality criteria of analytical methods and on adsorbents are also included.
