In 1992, after the death of her mother, aspiring journalist Amber Anderson discovers a mysterious box in the attic of their home. Its contents including newspaper articles pertaining to a double homicide that took place over twenty years ago in the state of Alabama. After becoming intrigued by the story, Amber reaches out to Primrose Smith, the woman convicted of killing her husband and child, for a final interview, before she is to be executed by electric chair. With less than two weeks away from her execution date, Primrose shares her life story leading up to the events that placed her in the Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women. During their interviews, Amber gets more than she bargains for, as she not only receives an unexpected lesson in Black History, she also unearths a certain mystery of her own past.
