Beneath Your Feet : On Caring for the Earth's Resources

Forming part of a series of study units, this book is designed to encourage KS1 and KS2 pupils to take a new look at the Earth's resources, especially soils and rocks.

The series comprises of a set of study units that are cross-curricular and have a strong emphasis on caring for the environment.

Topics are linked to geography and science, enabling teachers to plan the curriculum effectively.

A special feature of this publication is the teachers' background information, which includes a table demonstrating the links between activities covered and NC requirements for geography and science.

This book contains: a study of natural resources and the ways in which humans are causing environmental changes; information on all aspects of soil, fossils and rocks as energy sources, habitats and components of life on our planet; experiments and investigations for children to try themselves, with health and safety reminders; and opportunities to develop science skills (prediction, observing and "fair testing").

The book also includes illustrations, poems and songs which reinforce the key themes.
