African Sunsets : The Story of an Adventurous Life

See all formats and editions

Giorgio Grasselli is a well-known professional hunter.

But, as the emphasis, this is not a traditional hunting book.

It is the story of his life in Africa, written with honesty, humour and often with irony.

His love of nature and the big wild animals in particular, his interest in the indigenous people among whom he has lived and that have remained attached to their traditions and the close bond of affection he feels towards the old white people of Africa, are the thread of his story.

The author is considered a good connoisseur of Africa (he hates the word expert, so often used and abused these days) and some of its problems emerge forcibly from the pages of this title.

From an early age Giorgio knew he was destined to live in Africa.

He was attracted to hunting because of its association with adventure and it was the search for new areas that enabled him to live in the most wonderful wilderness amongst interesting people.

Some of the countries he lived in are Cameroon, Rhodesia, Zambia, CAR and Sudan. The wild Africa of infinite spaces, described in its realities - past and present - enriched by more than 130 photographs, mostly colour, many of which are extraordinary and have never been published before.
