Nigel Hall : Sculpture and Works on Paper

See all formats and editions

Nigel Hall RA is one of the foremost sculptors of his generation.

His preoccupation with space and balance has led him to create some of the most beautiful works of sculpture to have been produced in this country over the last thirty years.

This handsomely produced book, the first comprehensive survey of Halls output, is published to coincide with a retrospective at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

As well as showing the sculpture, the extensive selection of illustrations includes many of Halls working drawings and finished works on paper, revealing the skill of a consummate draughtsman and an artist who places great emphasis on the importance of drawing to his practice.

As he considers work ranging from the early spatial constructions to Halls most recent public pieces, Andrew Lambirth examines the artists career and his working method and places him in the context of postwar European sculpture.
